Dubai Airports is projecting a 13.6% growth in passengers in 2010. Total passengers are expected to reach 40.5 million by the end of 2009 and top 46 million in 2010. An improving economy, strong expansion by Emirates Airline, the emergence of LCC flydubai and open skies policies are driving the growth, according to Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths. Dubai Airports manages the operation and development of Dubai International and the new Dubai World Central-Al Maktoum International, which is under construction.

Since operations began in 2005, the terminal has handled about 60% of the international passengers at AYT. Development and Construction
Nashville International will complete its road construction project by the end of this month and is concentrating on an $18 million interior renovation that will enlarge the ticket lobby, replace HVAC units and provide new flooring in terminals and concourses. Gate areas, baggage claim and restrooms will be updated and more restrooms added in Concourse A. The program is to be finished in early 2011.
Green elements of the work include low-flow plumbing fixtures, recycled carpeting, energy-efficient lighting and stone countertops. Some material left over from airfield work is being reused. About 95% of the cost of the current work is covered by passenger facility charges and the remainder comes from general airport revenue.
This is the second phase of Nashville's airport renewal project. The first phase, completed in January, created new food, beverage and retail facilities, a consolidated security checkpoint and new flight information displays.

Bangkok's Don Muang International is in negotiations to establish several aircraft maintenance facilities and a terminal for private jets. The 95-year-old airport has been served by just a few domestic LCC flights since Suvarnabhumi International opened in 2006.
The general aviation terminal will be the first to open. Other projects, to be operated as concessions, include maintenance centers for small and medium-sized aircraft, a landing gear facility for narrowbody aircraft, an aircraft parts stock management center, a flight simulator facility and an international duty-free zone.
EADS plans to operate the landing-gear facility for its A320 family. Europe Aviation is reported to be interested in running the MRO center. Both companies have asked the Thai government to waive the 49% limit on foreign ownership of companies operating in Thailand.
The high-speed rail line between Suvarnabhumi and downtown Bangkok is scheduled to open Dec. 5, the birthday of the king and a national holiday.
